9 get life in prison for killing AL leader in Kushtia
The convicts intercepted the motorbike of Lutfur Rahman Sabu, 50, son of Ajit Molla of Ambaria village in Mirpur upazila, while going to Chuadanga’s Alamdanga on 11 January 2017 and stabbed him indiscriminately following an enmity over establishing supremacy, leaving him dead on the spot

A Kushtia court on Sunday sentenced nine people to life term imprisonment for killing a local leader of Awami League and former UP Chairman Lutfur Rahman Sabu in 2017.
Kushtia District and Session Judge Sumaiya Khanam handed down the punishment.
The court also fined them Tk20,000 each, in default to six months more in rigorous imprisonment.
The lifers are- Mashiur Rahman Milon, former chairman of Ambaria Union and son of Mahabubul Haque Bulu, Jashim Uddin, son of Julmat Ali, Ekhlas Ali, son of Ilias Ali, Murad Ali, son of Billal Hossain, Mahabul Hossain, son of Ashan Ali, Rashedul Ali, son of Babar Ali, Wasim Ali, son of Rabiul Islam, Rafiqul Islam, son of Moslem Mandal and Helal Uddin, son of Nazrul Islam of Mirpur upazila.
According to the prosecution, the convicts intercepted the motorbike of Lutfur Rahman Sabu, 50, son of Ajit Molla of Ambaria village in Mirpur upazila, while going to Chuadanga's Alamdanga on January 11, 2017 and stabbed him indiscriminately following an enmity over establishing supremacy, leaving him dead on the spot.
Habibur Rahman Habib, younger brother of the AL leader, filed a case with Mirpur Police Station.
Police submitted a chargesheet against ten people in the case.
After examining records and witnesses, the court sentenced nine people to life term imprisonment and acquitted another one as allegations brought against him could not be proved.
