5 arrested over armed attack on house in Adabor
Police say the suspects were arrested over an alleged attempt to reoccupy an eight-storey house in Shyamoli Housing
Five people have been arrested over an alleged armed attack on an eight-storey house in Dhaka's Adabor, according to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The arrests were confirmed today (28 September) in a message sent to the media by DMP Media and Public Relations Division Deputy Commissioner Akter Hossain.
The incident took place around 6:30am on Saturday (26 September) in the Shyamoli Housing area, when a group allegedly armed with machetes, cleavers and a pistol attempted to reoccupy the house.

Relatives of house owner Aminur Rahman alleged that 15-20 people arrived at the property and demanded that the residents leave. When the gate remained closed, they allegedly shouted, "Give us our money. You live in the house but won't pay? Come out," before attacking the main gate and smashing windows.
CCTV footage obtained by The Business Standard showed two men striking the gate with machetes before another threw a brick at a camera. The attackers then damaged two CCTV cameras and smashed two second-floor windows.
Monir Hossain, Aminur's nephew, alleged that four men approached the gate, two carrying cleavers, one a machete and another a pistol. He claimed the man carrying the pistol was directing the others.
Monir said he called the national emergency service 999 during the attack, but police arrived around 9:45am.
The family alleged that Khorshed Alam had occupied the house on 17 August 2024. After their complaint to Adabor Police Station failed to resolve the matter, they went to court.
Following a court order, the Police Bureau of Investigation investigated the case for around four months and submitted a charge sheet. The family regained possession of the property on 12 March this year.
Monir alleged that Saturday's attackers were associates of Khorshed who had returned to try to take control of the property again.
Adabor Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zahidul Islam said police had inspected the house and were investigating the incident.
