45 Rohingyas fleeing from Bhasan Char detained in Chattogram's Sitakunda

A total of 45 Rohingyas, including women and children, who allegedly fled from the Bhasan Char rehabilitation centre in Noakhali by boat, were detained by locals upon reaching the coastal area of Sitakunda in Chattogram.
The group was apprehended around 12:30pm on Monday at the Bhatyari coast, Sitakunda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mozibur Rahman confirmed.
"Locals became suspicious upon hearing them speak and contacted law enforcement. Upon receiving information from locals, police detained the Rohingyas who had reportedly arrived via trawler with the help of brokers," the OC said.
"Initially we were informed that locals detained 30 Rohingyas but arriving at the scene, police detained a total of 45 individuals, including men, women, and children."
OC Mozibur added that police brought the detainees to the police station in the afternoon.
"Legal action will be taken after initial questioning and verification," he said.
