Police have detained three leaders and activists of the Jubo League and the banned Chhatra League after they brought out a flash procession at the Bahaddarhat intersection in Chattogram this morning (17 April).
Chandgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aftab Uddin confirmed the matter, saying, "Around 7:53am, 10-12 members of the Jubo League and Chhatra League, led by Jubo League leader Hanif, brought out a brief procession at the Bahaddarhat intersection that lasted about one to one and a half minutes."
"At the time, police patrol teams were preparing for a shift change. Despite that, officers managed to chase the group and detain three individuals from the scene. The rest fled," he added.
The OC also noted that all participants have been identified and operations were ongoing to arrest the rest.
Meanwhile, a one-minute and eleven-second video of the rally circulating on social media shows participants holding a banner featuring a photo of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and chanting slogans: "Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu, Sheikh Hasina will return to Bangladesh in the guise of a hero," as they marched quickly through the intersection.
