When a minitruck travelling from Chattogram towards Naikhongchari approached the checkpoint, police instructed it to stop. Three individuals in the vehicle attempted to flee but were apprehended after a brief chase, the OC said.
Upon searching the minitruck, police recovered 32 small white plastic sacks, which contained 1,600 magazines for heavy firearms, he said, adding that the vehicle was also seized.
"The arrested individuals have confessed that the recovered magazines were being transported via the Naikhongchari border to be delivered to the armed group in Myanmar," the OC added.
