2 cops among five held on mugging charges in Chattogram
While businessman Abu Jafar was waiting at Sitakunda bus station, two lawmen showed up there and nabbed him, falsely accusing him as a drug peddler
Five people, including two policemen, were arrested in connection with a reported mugging from a businessman from Sitakunda upazila on Thursday night.
The arrestees were identified as sub-inspector SaifulAlam, 32, Constable Saiful Islam, 27, of Sitakunda Police Station, informants Ripon, 35, and Harun,33, and driver Raju, 25.
A case was filed with Sitakunda Police Station in this connection and the arrestees have been produced before the court Friday noon, said MdAshraful Karim, additional superintendent of Chattogram police.

He said businessman Abu Jafar came to Sitakunda to buy a vehicle on December 20.
While he was waiting at Sitakunda bus stand to return to his house in Gazipur, two policemen went there and nabbed Abu Jafar, falsely accusing him as a drug peddler.
Later, the two lawmen took away Tk2.8 lakh from Jafar and released him after visiting different places in that area.
Meanwhile, police arrested the five after finding the initial truth of allegation, added the superintendent.
