Cox's Bazar Express delayed over 3.5 hours after engine failure at midway station
The train had 23 coaches and was carrying over 800 passengers

The Dhaka-bound Cox's Bazar Express was stranded for more than three and a half hours at Islamabad Station after suffering an engine failure, causing immense suffering for over 800 passengers on board.
The incident took place around 1:30pm today (15 June) when the train reached Islamabad Station in Eidgaon upazila, said Mohammad Golam Rabbani, manager of the Cox's Bazar iconic station.
"The train had 23 coaches and was carrying over 800 passengers," he said.
According to Rabbani, the train left Cox's Bazar station at 12:45pm, 15 minutes behind schedule, and broke down shortly after arriving at Islamabad Station.
"The engine failed after its motor burned out," he added.
He further noted that Cox's Bazar station lacks both a relief train and a locomotive shed.
"After informing the authorities, a relief train with a replacement engine departed from Chattogram toward Islamabadh Station and arrived there around 5pm."
After the broken-down engine was removed and replaced with the new one, the Cox's Bazar Express left Islamabad Station toward Dhaka, he added.
