Youth gets 10-year jail for raping child in Kamrangirchar
The court also imposed a fine of Tk1 lakh on the convict, with an additional one-year prison term in case of non-payment
A Dhaka court today (17 April) convicted and sentenced a youth named Md Nasir to 10-year imprisonment in a case lodged for raping a six-year-old girl in the south Munshihati area of Kamrangirchar in the capital in 2021.
Judge Md Moshiar Rahman of Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 pronounced the judgment in the presence of the convict. He was later sent back to jail with a conviction warrant.
The court also imposed a fine of Tk1 lakh on the convict, with an additional one-year prison term in case of non-payment.

According to the case documents, Nasir lured the victim to the office room of a factory behind Nuru Baburchi's house in south Munshihati area on 26 November 2021, and raped her.
Later, the victim's mother filed the case with the Kamrangirchar Police Station.
Accused Nasir was arrested on 27 December 2021. He later gave a confessional statement before the court.
Police filed the charge sheet on 31 May 2022.
