Two sentenced to life in rape cases in Chuadanga

A Chuadanga court has sentenced two people to life imprisonment in separate rape cases.
The convicts are — Nazmul Haque, 33, from Baradi village in Alamdanga upazila, and Abdul Khaleque, 55, from Minajpur village in Jibannagar upazila of the district.
District and Sessions Judge Syed Habibul Islam of Chuadanga Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal passed the order in the presence of the accused today (25 June).
Confirming the matter, the Public Prosecutor (PP) of the tribunal, MM Shahajahan Mukul, said the convicts were also fined Tk1 lakh each.
Nazmul was accused in the case filed with Alamdanga Police Station on 19 December 2021 on allegation of raping his friend's teenaged sister on 8 September that year.
Khaleque was accused of raping a six-year-old on 8 June 2015. The case was filed against him with Jibannagar Police Station the next day.
Both the convicts have been sent to jail after the verdict, said the PP.
