Testimony recorded in 3 Rajuk plot scam cases against Hasina, others

A Dhaka court recorded witness testimony today (13 August) in three separate corruption cases over alleged irregularities in plot allocations by the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, Rehana's daughter Azmina Siddiq Ruponti and British MP Tulip Rizwana Siddiq among others.
Judge Md Robiul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge's Court-4 heared the testimonies from the complainants in each case.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Public Prosecutor Mir Ahmed Ali Salam confirmed the matter, saying that the court heard the plaintiffs of the three cases: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Salahuddin, Assistant Directors Afnan Jannat Keya and SM Rashedul Hasan.
The Dhaka court set 28 August as the next date of recording testimony.
Earlier on 11 August, they had testified in three more identical cases against 47 people, including ousted Prime minister Sheikh Hasina, at Dhaka Special Judge Court-5. After recording their testimonies, Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun adjourned the hearing of those three cases till 26 August.
Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 on 31 July framed charges in the three cases. It also issued arrest warrants against the accused as they are still at large.
On the other hand, Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 on that same day had framed charges in three more cases filed in this connection. It had fixed August 13 to begin recording the testimonies in the cases and issued arrest warrants against the accused.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib on 20 July forwarded the matters to the Special Judge Court as the cases were ready for trial. The court passed the order as the accused refrained from appearing before the court in spite of its order in this connection.
