Tawhid Afridi shown arrested in fraud case
After hearing both sides, the court granted the prosecution's plea.
A Dhaka court today (15 June) granted a police petition to show content creator Tawhid Afridi arrested in a case filed over allegations of fraud and criminal breach of trust at Wari Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Hasan Shahadat passed the order following a petition submitted by investigating officer Sub-Inspector Md Mahfuzur Rahman of Wari Police Station, Public Prosecutor Harun Or Rashid confirmed.
According to court proceedings, the SI produced Afridi in court and filed the petition seeking to show him arrested.
According to the petition, the involvement of Tawhid was found during the interrogation of Nishaduzzaman Nishad, a suspected accused in the case.
For the sake of a proper investigation, it was highly necessary to show him arrested, it said.
State counsel Syed Golam Murtaza Ibne Islam argued in favour of the application, while defence lawyer Iqbal Mahmud Shovon opposed it.

According to the case statement, an online fraud ring contacted a person through WhatsApp and Telegram on 13 January 2025, offering employment opportunities.
They subsequently induced the victim to invest money in several phases.
Initially, the fraudsters returned small amounts of money to gain the victim's trust, before embezzling Tk2.35 lakh by promising high returns.
Syeda Ashfah Toaha Dyuti filed a case against unidentified individuals at Wari Police Station.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Tawhid Afridi, son of private television channel MyTV Chairman Nasir Uddin Sathi, in Barishal on the night of 24 August last year.
He was placed on remand in multiple cases.
With the latest development, he has been shown arrested in three cases so far, including a murder case.
