Ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina's adviser Salman F Rahman, former law minister Anisul Huq, former food minister Quamrul Islam and former IGP Chowdury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who were earlier arrested over genocide and crimes against humanity committed during the 2024 mass uprising, were produced before a Gazipur court today (22 June).

The four were produced before the court of Gazipur Metropolitan Magistrate Court-3 at 10am in three murder cases in connection with the July Movement, said Gazipur Metropolitan Police's (GMP) Gacha police station OC Md Aminul Islam.

The court has sent all four to jail, and shown arrested former IGP Mamun in a fresh murder case filed in connection with the July-August mass upsurge, said the OC.

According to police and statements of the cases, the three cases were filed with Gacha police station in connection with the killing of six people during the protests of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement in the area last year.

Salman F Rahman, Anisul Huq, Quamrul Islam and Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun were earlier shown arrested in the three cases.

Inspector Ahsan Ullah Chowdhury of the court said the four were brought to the court from Kashimpur Central Jail in the morning in the three cases.

Meanwhile, police pleaded to show arrest former IGP Mamun in a fresh murder case in connection with the July uprising, which was accepted by the court after a hearing.

Later, the four were escorted by the police to Kashimpur Central Jail, said OC Aminul.
