Rumours over Padma Bridge: HC denies bail to Nazmul of Narail

The High Court (HC) denied bail to Nazmul Hossain in a case, filed under the Digital Security Act over spreading rumours that people needs to be killed for the successful completion of the Padma Bridge Project.
The HC bench, consisting Justice Showkat Hossain and Justice Fatema Nazib, passed the order on Wednesday; while issuing a rule directed to the government, asking why the accused should not be granted a bail. The government has been directed to come up with an explanation in this regard within four-week.
Advocate Helal Uddin Molla stood on behalf of the petitioner, while AKM Amin Uddin Manik, the Deputy Attorney General, represented the state.

On August 19, a petition was filed at Narail court, requesting bail for Nazmul Hossain; the bail plea was subsequently turned down by Haider Ali, the acting Session Judge.
According to the case statement, Nazmul, on one of his Facebook posts, wrote that one lakh people needed to be killed for the successful completion of the Padma Bridge project, and sent the message through messenger.
Police Inspector Ilias Hossain filed a case against Nazmul at Narail Sadar Police Station under the Digital Security Act on July 25.
