A Dhaka court has fixed 28 June for submitting the supplementary investigation report in the case filed over the murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
The report was scheduled to be submitted today (17 June). However, the investigating agency, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), failed to submit it before the court.
Following this, the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah set the new date for submitting the report.
With this, the investigation officer has been given time for the 16th time to submit the supplementary investigation report in the case.
Md Ruknuzzaman, deputy inspector of the Prosecution Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the development.
Earlier, on 6 January, Detective Branch Inspector Faisal Ahmed, the investigation officer in the case, submitted a charge sheet against 17 people.
Later, on 15 January, the case's complainant, Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber, filed a no-confidence petition against the charge sheet. On the same day, the court ordered the CID to conduct a supplementary investigation into the case.
According to the case statement, Foysal Karim Masud and Alamgir Hossain opened fire on Hadi while he was travelling in a battery-run auto-rickshaw on December 12, 2025, before fleeing the scene, reports BSS.
Zaber filed the case with Paltan Model Police Station on December 14.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Siddiq Azad on December 20 ordered the inclusion of Section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code in the case, which was initially filed as attempted murder, following Hadi's death on December 18.
