Osman Hadi murder case: Further investigation report deferred to 2 April
This marks the tenth time the investigating officer has been granted an extension to submit the further report in the case.
The court has deferred the submission of the further investigation report in the murder case of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman bin Hadi to 2 April.
The report was originally scheduled to be submitted today (11 March), but the investigating agency, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), could not submit it on the day.
Consequently, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka, Jashita Islam, set a new date for submission of the report.
This marks the tenth time the investigating officer has been granted an extension to submit the further report in the case.
Md Ruknuzzaman, Deputy Inspector of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Prosecution Division, confirmed the development.
Earlier on 6 January, the investigating officer, Inspector Faisal Ahmed of the DB Police, submitted a charge sheet against 17 individuals.
On January 15, plaintiff Abdullah Al Zaber submitted a waiver, and the court directed the CID to conduct further investigation.
According to the case, Sharif Osman Hadi, following the uprising, had established the political-cultural platform Inqilab Mancha and served as its spokesperson.
On 12 December, at 2:20pm, assailants on a motorbike shot Hadi in the Box Culvert Road area under Paltan Model Police Station, leaving him with severe injuries to his head and below his right ear.
He was treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later at Evercare Hospital.
Due to deterioration in his condition, he was flown to Singapore by air ambulance on 15 December for advanced treatment. He passed away a week later, on 18 December, while under treatment.
In this connection, Abdullah Al Zaber filed an attempted murder case at Paltan Police Station on 14 December, which was later converted into a murder case.
