No legal bar to Tawhid Afridi's release after bail in fraud case
The content creator has now secured bail in all three cases filed against him, his lawyer says.
A Dhaka court today (21 July) granted bail to content creator Tawhid Afridi in a fraud case filed with Wari Police Station, removing the final legal hurdle to his release from jail.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam passed the order today, granting Afridi bail on a Tk1,000 bond.
Afridi's lawyer, Iqbal Mahmud Shovon, confirmed the development to The Business Standard, saying his client had been named in three cases and had already secured bail from the High Court in the other two.

"With today's bail order in the Wari Police Station case, there is no legal bar to his release from jail," the lawyer said.
According to the case statement, the complainant, Syeda Ashfah Towaha Dyuti, filed the case after allegedly being defrauded by an online scam syndicate.
The complaint states that on 13 January 2025, members of the syndicate contacted the victim via WhatsApp and Telegram, luring her with promises of employment and persuading her to invest money in stages.
The fraudsters allegedly gained the victim's trust by returning a small amount initially before convincing her to make larger investments. They later promised to return the money with profits but instead misappropriated a total of Tk2,35,000.
During the investigation, Tawhid Afridi was identified as a suspect and subsequently shown arrested in the case.
Afridi, the son of MyTV Chairman Nasir Uddin Sathi, was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Barishal on 24 August 2025.
He was later shown arrested in multiple cases and remanded for questioning.
