Natundhara Bangladesh chief Momin Mehedi, 5 others sent to jail in anti-terrorism case
The court rejected bail petitions after police said the investigation is ongoing and more suspects linked to the case are yet to be identified.
A Dhaka court today (5 August) sent six leaders of Natundhara Bangladesh, including Chairman Momin Mehedi and Senior Vice-Chairman Shanta Farzana, to jail in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Shahbagh Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kamal Uddin passed the order after a hearing, confirmed State prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruqi.
The other accused are Vice-Chairman Dr Nurjahan Nira, Joint Secretary General Moniruzzaman, Organising Secretary Aftab Mondol and Hari Sarkar.

According to the prosecution, police told the court that further investigation is underway to identify other alleged associates and that remand may be sought later if necessary.
The case was filed on the night of 4 August by Babul Sardar, naming the six leaders and 50 to 60 unidentified individuals.
According to the FIR, the accused allegedly organised a procession in front of the National Press Club and attacked protesters, including SDF Member Secretary Al Nur Mohammad Ayas and several July movement activists, with sticks, steel pipes, chairs and hockey sticks, leaving multiple people injured. The complaint also alleges that they were involved in anti-government activities.
During the hearing, the defence denied the allegations and sought bail, arguing that four of the accused were not involved in the incident.
The prosecution opposed the petitions, after which the court rejected the bail applications and ordered the six accused to jail.
