Legal notice demands announcing private TV channels as industry
A writ will be filed if proper steps are not taken within seven days

A legal notice has been sent to the authorities concerned today with demand to announce the private television channels as industry.
Supreme Court lawyer Ekhlas Uddin Bhuiyan sent the notice to the secretaries of cabinet, information, industry, law and others concerned authorities.
Mentioning a report published earlier in newspapers, the notice said that 33 service sectors including newspaper had been proposed to be made industry.
But television channels were excluded, though they are considered as industry in various countries in the world.
"These channels bring out many social irregularities which play vital role to build the society as well as in the economy," the notice remarked.
"Turning TV channels into an industry will bring more improvements to this sector," it added.
A writ will be filed if proper steps are not taken within seven days, the notice further mentioned.
