Subrata Bain placed on 7-day remand in Jubo Dal leader Arif murder case

A Dhaka court today placed top-listed criminal Subrata Bain alias Fateh Ali on a seven-day remand in connection with Jubo Dal leader Arif Shikder's murder in the capital earlier this year.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Abdul Wahab passed the order after the hearing.
Earlier, Investigating Officer (IO) of the case, Inspector of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mohammad Mazharul Islam produced Subrata Bain before the court with a 10-day remand plea. However, the court granted a seven-day remand after the hearing.
Subrata Bain, who was apprehended by the Joint Forces on 27 May this year, was shown arrested in the Arif Shikder murder case on 23 June.
The court had fixed 9 July for a hearing after the detectives filed an application to place Subrata on remand to uncover details of the alleged killing of Arif.
Arif Shikder, former associate secretary of Dhaka North City Corporation ward-36 Jubo Dal, was shot by unknown assailants on 19 April night in front of a restaurant in Noyatola area under Hatirjheel police station.
He succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital two days later.
The deceased's sister, Rima Akter, filed a murder case in this connection at Hatirjheel police station against Subrata Bain's aide Mahfuzur Rahman Bipu and nine others.
As per the case statement, there was a rivalry between the deceased Jubo Dal leader and the accused over establishing supremacy in areas under Hatirjheel police station.
