HC rules only MBBS, BDS graduates can use 'doctor' title
The court stated that no action would be taken against those who have used the title "doctor" without holding an MBBS or BDS degree up until now.

The High Court has ruled that no one, except those with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degrees, can use the title "doctor" before their name.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Razik-Al-Jalil and Justice Sathika Hossain delivered the verdict today (12 March).
The court stated that no action would be taken against those who have used the title "Doctor" without holding an MBBS or BDS degree up until now.
The ruling stemmed from hearings on the Medical and Dental Council Act, which prohibits the use of the title "doctor" by anyone who does not possess at least an MBBS or BDS degree.
The case also involved a long-standing petition filed over the use of the "doctor" title by individuals holding a "DMF" (Diploma in Medical Field) degree.
The High Court bench, after hearing two separate petitions, had initially set 12 March as the date for delivering the judgment following a joint hearing held on 25 February.
