HC to deliver order tomorrow on writ challenging July National Charter
The High Court will deliver its order tomorrow (3 March) on a writ petition seeking directives to annul the July National Charter and to suspend its operation alleging that it conflicts with constitutional provisions, as hearing of the petition has concluded.
The HC bench comprising Justice Razik-Al-Jalil and Justice Md Anowarul Islam fixed the date after hearing the case today (2 March), according to court sources.
Acting attorney general Mohammad Arshadur Rouf, and Additional Attorney General Aneek R Haque conducted the hearing on behalf of the state.
Senior lawyers Ahsanul Karim and Syed Mamun Mahbub represented the petitioner.
Against the petition, Advocate Mohammad Hossain Lipu, Imran A Siddique, and Shishir Manir were present.
Earlier, on 25 February, the High Court set 1 March for hearing the writ petition.
On 1 March, the High Court rescheduled the hearing following a request for more time by the state side.
Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akand filed the petition on 18 February.
