The verdict was delivered today (11 December) by the bench of Justice Md Mozibur Rahman Miah and Justice Biswajit Debnath
The High Court has declared the Election Commission's (EC) gazette illegal that shifted Algi and Hamirdi unions of Bhanga Upazila from under the Faridpur-4 constituency to Nagarkanda Upazila under Faridpur-2.
The court has also directed the authorities to restore the Faridpur-4 constituency boundary to its previous form.
The verdict was delivered today (11 December) by the bench of Justice Md Mozibur Rahman Miah and Justice Biswajit Debnath.
Barrister Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallob represented the petitioners.
On 22 September, the High Court issued a rule asking why the EC's gazette notification altering the constituency boundaries should not be declared illegal.
Earlier, the writ petition had been filed on behalf of five individuals, including Md Shahidul Islam Babul, a BNP nomination aspirant for Faridpur-4 in the upcoming 13th national election, and Supreme Court lawyer Md Mahbubur Rahman Dulal.
