Former ministers Anisul Huq, Hasanul Haque Inu, Rashed Khan Menon, Dipankar Talukder and Faruk Khan were placed on fresh remand in different cases.

Joint General Secretary of the Central Committee of the banned organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League Benazir Hossain has also been put on fresh remand in a case filed with Shahbag Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act. 

According to court sources, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam today (19 February) granted the remand prayers of the investigation officers of the lawsuits filed against the former ministers with different police stations under DMP.

Former law minister Anisul Huq was put on a five-day remand in a case filed over the death of Abdullah Al Mahin, 16, a student of National Institute of Engineering and Technology College in Uttara, Dhaka on August 4 last year during the student-people uprising. 

Awami League presidium member Faruk Khan, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal president Hasanul Haq Inu and Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon were placed on a five-day remand in connection with a case filed with Motijheel Police Station for attacking the motorcade of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in 2015.

The court has granted a seven-day remand to former State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Dipankar Talukder in a case filed in connection with murder of Jubo Dal leader Shamim at city's Paltan area.
