A Dhaka court today placed former food minister Advocate Qamrul Islam on a four-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of Khaled Hasan Saifullah in Lalbagh area during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Belal Hossain passed the order as police produced the former minister before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand.

Police on 18 November arrested the former minister from a house in the Uttara Sector-12 area. He was placed on an eight-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of trader Abdul Wadud.
