Erfan Salim acquitted in narcotics case
Earlier, another Dhaka court acquitted him in an arms case
A Dhaka court has acquitted Erfan Salim, son of Haji Mohammad Salim, in a narcotics case filed with Chawkbazar Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman, on Monday, passed the order after accepting the final report submitted by the police.
Earlier on 18 February, another Dhaka court acquitted Erfan in the case filed under arms act.

On 5 January, Delwar Hossain, inspector (operations) of Chawkbazar Police Station, submitted the final report in the drug and arms cases, recommending the charges against Erfan be dropped.
Erfan was arrested at his father's residence in Old Dhaka in October last year for "attacking" Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan of Bangladesh Navy.
Wasif filed a case over the assault at Dhanmondi Police Station naming four people and several unnamed accused. The three others accused are AB Siddique Dipu, 45, Md Zahid, 35, and Md Mizanur Rahman, 30. All four are now behind bars.
According to the case statement, a private car hit Wasif's motorcycle near Labaid Hospital in Dhanmondi on 25 October last year. Then, some people came out of the car, physically assaulted the navy official and verbally abused his wife.
Subsequently, a team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), the same day, raided Haji Salim's residence on Devdas Lane in Old Dhaka. Then, a mobile court of RAB sentenced Erfan to a year in jail for the unlawful possession of liquor and he was sent to jail.
Later on 28 October, RAB filed four separate cases against Erfan and his bodyguard Zahid under the arms and narcotics acts.
The Detective Branch of police recently submitted a charge sheet before a Dhaka court against Erfan and four others in a case filed over assaulting a Navy official.
