Court summons Well Group's Abdus Salam for defaulting on Dhaka Bank loan
According to the court notice, the defendants must appear before Chattogram Money Loan Court–1 by 10am on 15 April, either in person or through a lawyer, to present any statement or objection regarding the case.
The money loan court has summoned Well Group's former chairman Abdus Salam for defaulting on a loan from Dhaka Bank worth Tk90 crore.
Joint District Judge Md Helal Uddin of Chattogram Money Loan Court–1 issued the summons on 10 February. The notice was published in a national newspaper yesterday (9 March), confirmed Md Zillur Rahman, senior assistant vice president of Dhaka Bank PLC.
According to the court notice, the defendants must appear before Chattogram Money Loan Court–1 by 10am on 15 April, either in person or through a lawyer, to present any statement or objection regarding the case. Otherwise, the court will proceed with an ex parte hearing in accordance with the law.
According to the case filed by the CDA Avenue Branch of Dhaka Bank PLC over a loan default amounting to Tk 90,86,72,491, four companies and seven officials have been named as defendants.
The companies listed as defendants are Well Mart Limited, Well Dresses Limited, Well Designers Limited and Sanji Textile Mills Limited.
In addition, Abdus Salam, the founding chairman of Well Group, has been personally named as a defendant. Others named in the case include- Managing Director Syed Sirajul Islam, Chairman Syed Nurul Islam, Director Syed Nazrul Islam, Director Syed Shahidul Islam, Director Syed Tarikul Islam and Director Md Asif Hasan.
