Court orders seizure of income tax records of ex-minister Tipu, ex-justice Manik, 5 others

A court has ordered the seizure of income tax records of seven individuals, including former commerce minister Tipu Munshi and former Supreme Court justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, amid ongoing corruption allegations against them.
Dhaka Metropolitan Acting Senior Special Judge Shihabuddin Islam issued the order today (16 November) following seven separate petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The others whose tax documents have been ordered seized are: Tipu Munshi's wife, Malabika Munshi; former railway minister Mujibul Haque; former state minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam; former state minister for disaster management and relief Dr Enamur Rahman; and former MP Golam Faruk Khondaker Prince.

The ACC has filed cases against them over allegations of abusing power to amass wealth beyond known sources of income. Investigators said seizing their tax records is essential for the sake of the investigation.
