The estimated value of the assets is Tk4.79 crore, according to ACC
A Dhaka court today (9 December) ordered the seizure of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal's two cars, a 10-katha plot in the New Town project at Purbachal, and 118 kathas of land in Dohar and Ashulia.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court vacation judge Md Abdullah Al Mamun issued the order following an application from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The estimated value of the assets is Tk4.79 crore, ACC Public Relations Officer Akhtarul Islam confirmed.
ACC Deputy Director Afroza Haque Khan applied for the seizure, citing allegations that Kamal acquired assets worth Tk1.64 crore inconsistent with his known sources of income. The application also noted suspicious transactions totaling Tk5.59 crore across eight bank accounts.
A case was filed against Kamal under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, and Sections 4(2) and 4(3) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012.
An investigating officer has been appointed to look into the matter.
During the probe, investigators learned that Kamal was attempting to sell, transfer, or misappropriate the assets allegedly acquired through illegal means.
