Court orders to attach plot, freeze accounts of ex-minister Shahab Uddin

A Dhaka court has ordered the attachment of a five-katha plot in Uttara and the freezing of eight bank accounts belonging to former minister of environment, forest and climate change Shahab Uddin and his son, Zakir Hossain Jumon.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, accepting a plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
In its petition, the ACC said it had identified eight bank accounts belonging to the father-son duo while investigating allegations of money embezzlement and amassing illegal wealth. The commission also discovered information regarding the Uttara plot.
"The property should be attached and the accounts should be frozen for the sake of a proper investigation," the petition added.
