Court imposes travel ban on ex-police ADC Shiblee Noman
The ACC is investigating allegations against Shiblee relating to gold smuggling, involvement in casino business activities, and accumulation of wealth beyond known sources of income.
A Dhaka court today (23 February) imposed a travel ban on former additional deputy commissioner of police SM Shiblee Noman amid an ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption and acquisition of assets beyond known sources of income.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Foyez passed the order following an application filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Bench Assistant Md Riaz Hossain confirmed the matter.
On behalf of the ACC, Deputy Assistant Director Md Rubel Hossain submitted the application seeking restrictions on Shiblee's departure from the country.
According to the application, the ACC headquarters is investigating allegations against Shiblee relating to gold smuggling, involvement in casino business activities, and accumulation of wealth beyond known sources of income through corruption and abuse of power. A report on the findings will be submitted to the ACC.
The application also stated that Shiblee is currently in the country and may attempt to travel abroad. The ACC argued that restricting his travel is necessary to ensure a fair investigation.
