Court imposes travel ban on Begum Rokeya University ex-VC Kalimullah, 4 others
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order following a petition filed by the ACC

A Dhaka court today (7 August) imposed a travel ban on five people including former Vice Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah in a graft case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order following a petition filed by Assistant director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Minhaz Bin Islam, said Aktarul Isalm, public relations officer of ACC.
The other accused were former executive engineer of the university Jahangir Alam, contractor Salam Bachhu and MM Habibur Rahman.
According to the petition, all of them in collusion with each other changed the design of the Begum Rokeya University Development Project through abusing power disregarding the Development Project Proposal (DPP).
They allegedly signed contracts exceeding Tk30 crore in value without seeking approval from the relevant ministry or department.
Besides, they were also involved in misusing security deposits deducted from the contractor's running bills by keeping them as Fixed Deposit Receipts (FDRs) in a bank and subsequently issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to allow the contractor to secure loans against those FDRs, embezzling Tk4 crore from government funds.
