A Dhaka court today (19 May) ordered to freeze 13 beneficiary owner (BO) accounts of former chairman of Rajuk Major General (Retd) Md Siddiqur Rahman Sarker and his wife Gazi Rebeka Rowshan over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body in its plea said it is probing different allegations against Major General (Retd) Md Siddiqur Rahman Sarker.

Siddiqur, during his tenure as the chairman of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk), amassed huge illegal wealth in his and his family members names through corruption including embezzling money by allocating plots in Purbachal New Town project, the ACC said in its plea.

"Accused Siddiqur, Gazi Rebeka Rowshan have made huge investments through their BO accounts, FDR and savings certificates and they are trying to withdraw the money from their accounts and launder those abroad. So all their movable properties should be frozen," it added.
