CJ constitutes vacation benches to hear urgent matters

The chief justice of Bangladesh has constituted some benches with specific authorities to hear the emergency cases during the vacation of the apex court from 19 December to 1 January 2025.

Regular judicial activities in the High Court and the Supreme Court will remain closed during the time and will resume on 2 January after a 14-day vacation.

According to the website of the Supreme Court, a vacation bench of the High Court comprising Justice KM Kamrul Kader and Justice Md Abdul Mannan will hear and resolve the emergency civil motions recorded with the High Court before 1 February 2021.

Another HC bench comprising Justice Md Jahangir Hossain and Justice K M Rasheduzzaman Raja will hear the very urgent writ petitions while another bench comprising Justice Md Kamrul Hossain Molla and Justice Md Jabid Hossain will receive and hear the very urgent criminal motions, criminal appeals and bail petitions under Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and Money Laundering Acts.

Another bench comprising Justice Shashanka Shekhar Sarkar and Justice AKM Rabiul Hassan will hear the emergency writs relating to VAT, supplementary duty, customs, income tax, financial institutions and Artho Rin Ain.

A single member bench of Justice Ahmed Sohel will hear very urgent matters under primitive jurisdiction, succession law, divorce law, price court and admiralty court laws.

Another bench comprising Justice Muhammad Mahbub-Ul-Alam and Justice Yusuf Abdullah Sumon will hear the emergency criminal motions and the matters relating to ACC laws and Money Laundering Act.

A single member bench of Justice Md Zakir Hossain will hear the very urgent civil matters and subjects relating to ACC and money laundering laws including criminal motions.

Another single member bench of Justice Kazi Ebadat Hossain will hear all the acceptable criminal matters except those under the ACC and Money Laundering laws.
