The chargesheet was submitted today (1 July) by Mahfuzur Rahman, the investigating officer and assistant commissioner (Kotwali) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), to the prosecution branch of the Metropolitan Court.

His followers launched a protest surrounding the prison van, prompting police and Border Guard Bangladesh to use batons and sound grenades to disperse the crowd.
Amid the chaos, lawyer Alif was brutally beaten and hacked to death.
Following the incident, Alif's father, Jamal Uddin, filed a case with Kotwali Police Station on 29 November, naming 31 individuals.
Additionally, five more cases were filed over attacks on police, obstruction of duties, violence against lawyers and litigants, and the detonation of crude bombs.
