Chamber Court upholds BCB president's letter on councillor nominations
Chamber Judge Farah Mahbub issued the order today (22 September) during a hearing on the state’s appeal.

The Chamber Court of the Appellate Division has stayed the High Court's 15-day suspension of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul's letter, which sought to appoint councillors from district and divisional ad hoc committees ahead of the board's elections on 6 October.
Chamber Judge Farah Mahbub issued the order today (22 September) during a hearing on the state's appeal.
Confirming the decision to the media, BCB's lawyer Barrister Mahin M Rahman said, "The chamber court's order allows the president's letter to remain effective in the election process."
Earlier in the day, the HC suspended the letter's implementation for 15 days and issued a rule questioning why the letter should not be declared legal.
The HC bench, comprising Justice Md Mozibur Rahman Miak and Justice Biswajit Debnath, heard the writ petition filed by district and divisional sports organisers. Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal appeared on behalf of the petitioners.
On 18 September, President Bulbul issued a letter requesting Category-1 district and divisional sports associations to nominate councillors for forming a general council and organising the 2025 BCB governing council elections.
The letter cited the BCB constitution, amended in 2024, approved by the National Sports Council.
The board sent notices, nomination forms, and constitution copies to all association presidents/conveners via registered post on 1 September and courier on 2 September.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet Division instructed divisional commissioners and district administrators on 11 September to ensure compliance with clauses 9.1(a) and 9.1(b) of the amended BCB constitution during councillor nominations.
