Addressing his supporters, Hasan said, "Let my police brothers do their work. Don't let them face any problems"

A Dhaka court today (26 August) sent BNP central executive committee member Mamun Hasan to jail after his bail applications were denied in four separate vandalism cases.
Hasan surrendered at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka, where he sought bail.
However, the court rejected his applications and ordered him to be sent to jail, confirmed his lawyer Syed Nazrul Islam.
"We will file an appeal with the High Court, and we are hopeful he will be granted bail soon," the lawyer said.
Before being taken to jail, Mamun Hasan spoke to his supporters at the court gate, stating, "I have repeatedly said that I respect the law. That's why I surrendered. Let my police brothers do their work. Don't let them face any problems."
Addressing his supporters, Hasan said, "We have appealed against the verdict and Insha'Allah, we will get justice."
According to the case documents, Mamun Hasan was sentenced in four separate cases filed under the Speedy Trial Act at Mirpur Model Police Station in 2023.
On 8 November 2023, he was sentenced to three years in prison in one case. On the same day, he received another three-year sentence in a separate case.
On 12 November 2023, he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. On 26 October 2023, he was sentenced to one and a half years.
Hasan was taken to the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj via a private ambulance at around 3:30pm. Several BNP activists were seen chanting slogans at the court gate.
