Atiqul, 5 AL leaders land in jail in crimes against humanity case
The court also scheduled 9 March for the submission of the case’s investigation report

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has ordered to send former Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam and five Awami League leaders to jail after showing them arrested in a case filed over crimes against humanity.
The tribunal bench of Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder and Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury issued the order today (17 February).
The court also scheduled 9 March for the submission of the case's investigation report.
Prosecutors BM Sultan Mahmud and Gazi Monowar Hossain Tamim represented the prosecution team during the hearing. They were accompanied by prosecutors Gazi Mizanur Islam, Abdus Sobhan Tarafdar, Moinul Karim, and Saimum Reza.
On 11 February, Atiqul and the five other Awami League leaders were produced before the tribunal in connection with alleged crimes against humanity committed in the Uttara area during the mass uprising last year. The tribunal then sent them to jail.
The five Awami League leaders are Md Shahinur Mia, education secretary of the party's Uttara East Thana unit; Manowar Islam Chowdhury Robin, president of Uttara West Thana unit; Abdullah Al Mamun Mondol, organising secretary of Gazipur Metropolitan unt; Md Bashir Uddin, president of Uttara Sector 6 unit; Delwar Hossain Rubel, president of Ward No 1 Jubo League unit under Dhaka Metropolitan North.
