A Cox's Bazar court today (9 July) placed Myanmar's Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) chief Ataullah Abu Ammar Jununi in a three-day remand in connection with the killing of four people in Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhiya upazila of the district.

The Arsa chief was produced before the court in the morning amid tight security, and later sent back to lock-up after the remand hearing, said Inspector of the court, Md Golam Zilani.

He said the investigating officer (IO) of the case pleaded for seven days of remand for the Arsa chief. After the hearing, the court granted a three-day remand.

As per the case statement, on 6 October 2020, four people were killed in clashes between two rival groups at the Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Ukhiya.

The CID was assigned to investigate the case.

RAB members arrested Ataullah during a drive carried out in Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj on 10 March this year.

He is an accused in various cases, including over the murder of a DGFI member.
