CCTV footage is being analysed to identify those responsible, law enforcement sources say.
Police recovered six unexploded sound grenades today (8 March) from beside the main entrance used by the chief justice at the Supreme Court.
The devices were spotted lying on the right side of the gate at around 1:30pm.
Law enforcement sources said CCTV footage is being analysed to identify those responsible, as police launched an investigation to determine who attempted to create panic at the entrance used by the judiciary's top administrative official.
No damage or casualties were reported in the incident.
According to eyewitnesses, suspicious objects were noticed near the chief justice's entrance in the afternoon, prompting an immediate alert to police at Shahbagh Police Station.
Police quickly arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area and tightened security measures.
Later, a team from the bomb disposal unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) was called to the scene.
The specialised team reached the site and recovered the sound grenades at around 2pm, moving them to a safe location.
After examination, they safely defused the devices.
Necessary evidence was collected and the grenades were taken into custody by the expert team.
Following the incident, authorities further strengthened security in the Supreme Court area.
