The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana following a hearing at her court this afternoon (28 August).
Three dismissed officials of Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC have been placed on a one-day remand, while eight others were denied bail and sent to jail in a case filed over allegations of unlawful assembly and obstructing police duties.
The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana following a hearing at her court this afternoon (28 August).
The three remanded individuals are Nurul Akib, Mostafizur Rahman, and Isha Jabed. Those sent to jail include Afzal Hossain, Hasibul Islam, Zobair Bin Rashid, Ilias Mia, Azad Hossain, Irfan Uddin, Mozibul Bashak, and Shariful Islam.
Earlier, the investigating officer of the case, Police Sub-Inspector Saidur Rahman of Paltan Police Station, requested a seven-day remand for the accused. Defence lawyers sought bail and cancellation of the remand.
According to the case, on the morning of 25 August, around 100–150 former employees gathered outside Al-Arafah Bank at Daily Bangla intersection, demanding reinstatement and chanting slogans.
Police asked them to disperse, but the group allegedly blocked the road, confronted officers, and attacked police, causing a public disturbance. Eleven individuals were arrested at the scene.
The case was filed on the same day at Paltan Police Station by Sub-Inspector Jewel Islam.
