2 Khilgaon coffee shop staff remanded for beating woman with stick

A Dhaka court has placed two staff members of 'Apon Coffee House', situated in the city's Khilgaon area, on one-day remand each for physically assaulting a woman on 11 April.
Manager of the coffee house Al Amin, along with another staff Shuvo Shutradhar were taken into custody yesterday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rakibul Hasan passed the order as police produced them before the court and pleaded to place them on five-day remand each.
Defense lawyers for the accused appealed for bail and requested the remand be cancelled.
After hearing both sides, the court granted a one-day remand for further interrogation.
Video of the incident went viral on social media and sparked outrage among netizens, prompting Rampura Police Station Sub-Inspector Shafikul Islam Khan to file the case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and Section 323 of the Penal Code on Tuesday.
According to the FIR, the incident occurred at around 5:20pm.
In the video, some staff members were seen standing in front of the Apon Coffee House with the woman. One of them was seen trying to forcefully drive her out of the shop by grabbing her neck.
