The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to launch an inquiry into allegations of fund embezzlement and revenue evasion by Northern University Board of Trustees Chairman Abu Yusuf Md Abdullah and his family in connection with Shanto-Mariam University.

ACC Director General Md Akhter Hossain told reporters today (13 May) that the inquiry into Abu Yousuf and his family members involves allegations of fraud, irregularities, embezzlement of institutional funds, money laundering abroad, and amassing illegal wealth under their own names as well as those of family members.

Regarding Shanto-Mariam University, the ACC director general added that an inquiry has been initiated over alleged violations of university regulations, including the unlawful transfer of Tk343.60 crore from the university's income to the Shanto-Mariam Foundation, and evasion of nearly Tk102 crore in government revenue since its inception.
