ACC sues Sadik Abdullah over wealth statement
Officials tried several times to serve the notice at his addresses but failed to locate him
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Barishal City mayor and Awami League leader Serniabat Sadik Abdullah for failing to submit his wealth statement within the deadline.
ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain confirmed the matter during the commission's regular media briefing at ACC Headquarters today (6 January).
At the briefing, ACC said that it launched a preliminary inquiry into allegations that Abdullah acquired assets beyond known sources of income. Following approval, the commission issued a notice on 16 October 2025 requiring him to submit a wealth statement.
Officials tried several times to serve the notice at his addresses in Kalabagan, Dhaka; Kalibari Road, Barishal; and his village home in Seral under Agailjhara upazila, but failed to locate him. Finally, on 4 November, they affixed the notice and wealth statement form to the door of his ancestral house in Barishal.
The FIR stated that Abdullah did not comply within the 21 working days allowed, thereby committing an offence under section 26(2) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004.
The ACC determined the offence period as 16 October to 3 December 2025, citing its headquarters, Kalabagan in Dhaka, Barishal city and parts of Agailjhara upazila as the places of occurrence.
