ACC sues ex-Pirojpur MP for wife’s lecturer appointment using fake certificates
Former MP Awal’s wife Laila Parveen and the college principal Thakur Chand Majumdar were also made accused in the case

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Pirojpur-1 MP and district Awami League president AKMA Awal for allegedly misusing his power to appoint his wife as a lecturer at Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Women's College using fake certificates.
Awal's wife Laila Parveen, and the college principal Thakur Chand Majumdar were also made accused in the case.
Deputy Assistant Director Moazzem Hossain Samrat filed the case at ACC's Pirojpur Integrated District Office today (4 June).
Confirming the case, ACC Deputy Director Md Aminul Islam stated, "While serving as president of the college, former MP AKMA Awal misued his power to secure a lecturer post for his wife, who had no valid qualifications. After thorough investigation, legal action has been initiated."
The case accuses Laila Parveen, who has reportedly passed only up to the eighth grade, of securing a lecturer position using forged academic certificates.
According to the ACC, Parveen was appointed as a lecturer in Islamic studies on 22 December 2013, at Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Women's College where her husband served as founder and president of the governing body. She allegedly used fake SSC, HSC, and graduation certificates during the recruitment process, with support from her husband and the college principal.
Between August 2018 and June 2019, Parveen is said to have withdrawn Tk3.95 lakh in salary from the Nazirpur branch of Sonali Bank.
