ACC investigates alleged Tk252cr excess spending in free textbook printing
The anti-graft body is examining allegations of confidential bid leaks and syndication in the NCTB tender process.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into allegations of around Tk252 crore in excess government spending in the printing of free textbooks due to confidential bid leaks and the involvement of a syndicate.
An ACC enforcement team from its headquarters conducted an operation at the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) office in Motijheel, Dhaka, today (6 October).
ACC Public Relations Officer and Deputy Director Md Aktarul Islam confirmed the matter.
During the operation, the team collected copies of preliminary cost estimates, official price lists and the minutes of the NCTB's 423rd board meeting, along with other relevant records.
According to the allegations, confidential bid information was leaked during the tender process for printing free textbooks and a syndicate was involved in the process, allegedly causing the government to incur around Tk252 crore in additional expenditure.
The ACC is examining the collected documents to verify the allegations and determine whether any irregularities occurred, Aktarul said. "The enforcement team will submit a detailed report to the ACC commission after completing its review."
