ACC detains ward secretary of Dhaka South while taking bribes
The ward secretary’s detention comes after Md Saiful Islam, manager of Life Care Diagnostic Center at East Basabo in the capital’s Sabujbagh, filed a written complaint to ACC’s coordinated district office

A special team of the Anti-Corruption Commission detained the secretary of ward no-4 under area no-2 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) after he was caught red-handed while the individual was taking bribes today (24 April).
During the drive, money gathered through bribes and other samples were confiscated by the ACC, according to a press release issued by the Public Relations Office of the anti-corruption watchdog.
The ward secretary's detention comes after Md Saiful Islam, manager of Life Care Diagnostic Center at East Basabo in the capital's Sabujbagh, filed a written complaint to ACC's coordinated district office.
In the complaint, Saiful stated the under-construction diagnostic center needed release letter from DSCC. Although an application was submitted, the Secretary of the ward Kutubuddin Sohel asked for Tk10,000 as bribes even after visiting the spot and finding no errors.
The complaint adds that Sohel threatened the authorities of the diagnostic center of not giving them the release letter unless they pay him.
Coming to know that Sohel takes bribes from everyone who come to him seeking services, Saiful agreed to pay the bribe strategically.
Based on information given by Saiful, an ACC team conducted a raid and caught Sohel red-handed while he was taking bribes this noon.
