Conspirators will fail before united force: Farooki
We want to build a Bangladesh rooted in festivity, harmony, and unity, he says

No conspiracy can succeed against the united force of the people of Bangladesh, Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki said today (12 April).
"Nothing can dampen the festive spirit sweeping across the country as we prepare to celebrate the Bangla New Year with renewed enthusiasm," Farooki said during a views-exchange meeting with journalists at Sylhet Circuit House.
Farooki, who was on a visit to Sylhet, cut his trip short following the incident of arson on the Dhaka University campus, where two artistic motifs created for Pahela Baishakh celebrations were set ablaze early in the morning.
"We want to build a Bangladesh rooted in festivity, harmony, and unity. But the conspirators are threatened by that vision," he said, adding, "Their strength is no match for the unity of this nation."
The two motifs — Portrait of Fascism and Dove of Peace — were being prepared by students of the Faculty of Fine Arts (Charukola) at Dhaka University for the traditional Pahela Baishakh rally.
Farooki condemned the arson as a deliberate act by fascist sympathisers who oppose the progressive spirit of July and the symbolism represented in the rally.
The government has taken clear stance against the evil force while police has already started to act to nab the perpetrators, he said.
Farooki said in the fascist-free-Bangladesh, all the Bangalees, irrespective of their class and creed, want to celebrate the festival with a new zeal and spirit.
The government has taken initiative to observe the Choitro Sankranti and Pahela Baishakh in an inclusive manner, but some people might not like this.
Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Khan Md Reza-un-Nabi and Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad were present.
