According to the notification, the committee will verify and select the names of martyred intellectuals and give its opinion about it.

Committee formed to prepare list of martyred intellectuals

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has formed a selection committee comprising researchers, freedom fighters and officials of the ministry to make a list of martyred intellectuals.
 
A notification in this regard was issued on Thursday (19 November), said a press release.

Tapan Kanti Ghosh, secretary to the ministry, has been made the chairman of the committee.
 
Among the officials of the ministry, Md Shahidul Haque Bhuiyan, additional secretary, will perform the duty as a member and Rathindra Nath Dutta, deputy secretary, will serve as the member-secretary of the committee.
 
The researchers include Prof Muntassir Mamoon, Ghatak Dalal Nimul Committee President Shahriar Kabir, Dhaka University Professor Mesbah Kamal, Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum Trustee Dr Chowdhury Shahid Quader, National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM) Director Dr Bayazid Khurshid Riaz, and Researcher of Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum Gazi Salauddin.
 
The freedom fighters in the committee are filmmaker and cultural personality Nasir Uddin Yusuf Bachchu and researcher Lt Colonel Quazi Sajjad Zahir, Bir Pratik.
 
According to the notification, the committee will verify and select the names of martyred intellectuals and give its opinion about it.

The committee will also determine who will be considered as martyred intellectuals among the martyrs of the Liberation War.
 
The list of martyred intellectuals will be prepared by sorting out information obtained from various research books, magazine cuttings, TV reports, and other sources.
 
Besides, the committee will screen the applications from individuals, persons from different ministries, divisions, agencies, districts, upazilas and other sources.
