Committee formed to investigate police action on engineering students’ march to CA residence
The committee has been asked to submit its report within three working days.

A three-member committee has been formed to investigate the reasons and extent of police action on students of Buet and other engineering universities during their march towards the chief adviser's official residence, Jamuna.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in an office order today (28 August), signed by Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali, confirmed the formation of the committee.
The committee has been asked to submit its report within three working days.
According to the order, Additional Commissioner of DMP (Logistics, Finance, and Procurement) Hasan Md Shawkat Ali will serve as the convener, while Deputy Commissioner (Finance) Sadek Hasan has been made member secretary.
Joint Commissioner of DMP (Traffic North) Sufian Ahmed has been included as a member.
The order stated that yesterday, students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) along with other engineering university students gathered at Shahbagh to press their demands.
"At one stage, Buet students began marching towards the residence of the chief adviser at Jamuna. When they attempted to push past police barricades near Intercontinental Dhaka to proceed to Jamuna, police dispersed the procession by using force."
The order further mentioned that the committee has been tasked with reviewing CCTV footage, collecting witness accounts, and analysing the circumstances to determine the justification and extent of police action, uncover the actual reasons, and identify the responsibilities of the on-duty police members.
Yesterday, police fired tear gas and sound grenades, charged batons, and used water cannons to disperse students of engineering universities as they marched towards the chief adviser's official residence, Jamuna.
Md Sabbir Ahmed, coordinator of the Engineers' Rights Movement, said some students were injured and hospitalised after police used batons and tear gas on them.
At least eight members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) were also injured during the chase and counter-chase, according to the home ministry.
Later in a statement, Buet strongly condemned the police attack on protesting engineering students.
