Commemorative postage stamp honours women's role in July uprising

A new commemorative postage stamp has been issued by the Bangladesh Postal Department to mark the "July uprising 2024."
Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus unveiled the Tk10 stamp at the State Guest House Jamuna this evening (9 February).
The stamp's design highlights the participation of women in the uprising, recognising their crucial role in accelerating the movement, said a press release.
It underscores how women's involvement, alongside students and the general public, contributed to resisting fascism.
The stamp release also acknowledges the power of artistic expression during the uprising.
Paintings, cartoons, graffiti, and protest songs played a crucial role in inspiring and energising protesters. Within just three weeks, hundreds of political cartoons and paintings emerged, serving as a unique and powerful form of resistance against fascism.
